live projections and interventions
And so it arises. A world in crisis. And yet again the speeches. The images. Millions of images.
Violence and misery. For all eyes to see.
Atomic bombs. Disease. Unemployment.
Basically, the same old threat: Hunger + Plague + War
And here we are yet again.
The Apocalypse right? wasn´t that what we always used to
talk about? Imagining how the end would be.
It was an old idea that founded the Utopian Graphics of our hearts.
We took this name from an exhibition: Gráfica Utópica/Russian Graphic Art: 1904/1945.
In one side: the vanguard of communication, cinema, painting, prints, experimental photography. In the other: the Stalinist nurse asking (the vanguard) for silence. History has given and will always give more voice to the silenced. Malevich. Maiakovski. Vertov.
Medvedkine. Bauhaus. Dadá.
The socialist realism. The empire of images of the realist capitalism.
Gráfca Utópica is what we can print.
What only WE can print. Not them.
Dreams or nightmares. The nightmare crisis.
The parrot, for it is our eternal melancholic and funny metaphor.
The lion running free at the circus. empty circus.
Gráfica Utópica: Apocalypse
We imagined exactly how the apocalypse would (will?) be.
Too bad it wasn´t our idea. We just grew up with these
images. We are just re-elaborating fantasies about facts and
turning facts into fantasies.
so that´s it: UTOPIAN GRAPHICS MELANCHOLICALLY
PRINTS THE INSTAURED NIGHTMARES OF THE ANNOUNCED APOCALYPSE.
